Natural gas supplies nearly ¼ of all the energy used in the United States. Due to its efficiency, cleanliness and reliability, natural gas is growing increasingly popular. Consumption of natural gas will increase 11% by the year 2030, according to the United States Department of Energy (DOE). Most of the growth in natural gas demand comes from electricity generators, who have turned to natural gas because it is the cleanest burning fossil fuel and highly efficient.

Liquid Natural Gas, or LNG, is the same natural gas you use at home; however, it is cooled in an industrial process. The natural gas is cooled to -260°F, at which point the natural gas turns from a gas vapor to a liquid. This vaporization process allows for an increase in storage capacity of natural gas. 1 cubic foot of LNG is equal to 600 cubic feet of natural gas in vapor form.

LNG is also used as a cost saving measure in place of diesel fuel. 1.7 gallons of LNG has the same energy value as 1 gallon of diesel fuel. LNG is sold in diesel gallon equivalents (DGE) for the transportation, drilling, and hydraulic fracturing markets.
